Welcome to Swallow Class. Our class teacher is Miss Martin who is with us on a Monday to Thursday. Mrs Broadgate will be the class teacher on a Friday. Supporting our learning journey this year are Miss Zahra, our class teaching assistant, and Mrs Boden who works as a SEND teaching support mentor. In Swallow Class we work hard and show each other respect. We know the importance of being kind and caring and strive to follow our school mission statement.

Phonics

In the Summer Term, Year 1 will be taking part in the Phonics Screening Check. It will test the children's ability to decode words using their phonic knowledge. In school we teach phonics daily using Letter and Sounds Little Wandle.

Spellings

We give out weekly spellings. Our spellings are focused on the phonemes we have been learning that week. We then do our spelling test the following Friday. You can access our weekly spellings and the Year 1 and Year 2 common exception words on Spelling Shed.

Homework

 For Year 1 children each week maths homework will be sent home , this will link with the learning the children are doing in class.
In Year 2 children will have Maths and English homework to complete each week.
Homework is then due in the following Wednesday. Your child will also change their books once a week and it would be helpful if you read with your child and sign their reading record.
